I just had the transmission fluid changed and oil changed and there is a wierd burning smell. Why?

I just had my 60K maintanance with an oil change and my transmission fluid changed and their was a wierd burnt smell after I got done driving my car. Why is this? Could the mechanic have used the wrong transmission fluid? Or, is it normal for new transmission fluid to smell?
They also changed the coolant, in case that smells.

MIGHT HAVE SPILLED SOME ON THE EXHAUST! CK FOR ANY LEAKS AFTER DRIVING AWHILE.********* TAKE IT BACK AND HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT!!!

Is repairing a car oil pan with a repair kit reliable and does it make it like new again?

I am very new to the car repair scene, I have worked on my car before but sometimes I am skeptical about some things.
Is it worth it? The bolt is just stripped but I need to replace it or repair it.

they make a self tapping oversized drain plug i dont like them but will work i would just get a new oilpan,or good used one from a salvage yard

can i take out a auto transmission from 98 Elantra and put in a manual tramission?

hi…
i have a 1998 Hyundai Elantra GLS sedan…..its has 109,000 miles on it….. the thing is since the it has low mileage im thinking about adding a few upgrades and one thing i wanna do is put in a different transmission it has a auto but i prefer manual…. so my question is it possible for me to remove then add a new transmission?

If you have the money to burn and can do without the car log enough. It isn’t cheap and it isn’t quick. You need the transmission, bell housing, flywheel, clutch disk, throw out and pilot bearings, pressure plate, clutch release arm, clutch pedal with mounting accessories, clutch linkage/hydraulics, transmission mount, all the necessary hardware and possibly a new driveshaft and ECU. They won’t be easy to find nor cheap. After all is said and done you’ve invested a lot of time and money and now have a car that doesn’t match the VIN so is therefore harder to sell. Better to sell it and buy a car with a stick.

Can I sue an auto service center for damages to my vehicle?

I had taken my vehicle to a local auto center for an oil change which included their 24 point inspection. The technician assured me all fluids were topped off and that maybe it was a computer or electrical problem, later that evening i rechecked the fluids and the reservoir was empty which was why the light never turned off. Secondly he told me that my reverse lights were inoperable and needed repair. He tried new bulbs and checked the fuses but to no avail neither worked. Again I tried to check the reverse lights myself considering he lied about the other work I wanted to see what else he could be lying about, so as I was backing up the driver door swung open hitting a pole and damaging the car parked next to it. Is there any way I can attribute any of this accident to the auto service center for telling me there was a problem with my vehicle which left me to go behind their work and in the process damage my vehicle…..

You can sue anybody for anything. Especially in the USA.

But what you really want to know is if you have any chance of winning such a lawsuit…and the answer is no. Regardless of what the service center did, or did not, do to your car — it is always the driver’s responsiblity to maintain control of the vehicle. Period.

If the service center had done something to the door of your car that caused it to pop open while you were backing up, then you might have a chance of winning such a lawsuit, but otherwise, chalk it up to experience and let your insurance handle it (or pay it out of your own pocket).

P.S., The next time you want to check your backup lights, put the car in reverse, then shut-off the engine, set your parking brake, and go look. No need to actually have the car moving. You may have to put the ignition switch back into the "on" position, but don’t start the engine.

I want to start an Auto parts business?

I want to start an auto parts business to sell after market parts here from my home. I’ve been checking everywhere to see how I could get products like from Holley, Edlebrock, and Skunk2 but I don’t see how I can sell products like these. Does anyone know how I can open my business to sell products like this?

first of all, you should know your supplier/vendor and where you could get the items at a bulk or special price so that you could sell them for a competitive price. Do some research about your target market and how could you enter the market compete with the existing company. Study the demand from customers at your area so that you could smaller the products variant at the optimum level or by a popular demand items so that it could lower the risk of floating stocks at your place. Setup a website for you to display various kind of items and it could be one of the marketing mediums for promotion.

Anyway, you could visit my website at http://www.automods.com.my as i’m one of the auto parts seller for anyone around the world.

gud luck ;)

I need help finding a college for auto mechanics?

I live in Orlando, Fl and don’t know where to find some, I already looked into WyoTech, and UTI, but they cost too much, if no one can help me its ok because i have looked everywhere.

Maybe if someone can give me a website of some sort, even though i know you can’t take online classes for auto mechanics.

Any help will be Greatly appreciated.

Try looking for them in trade/vocational schools.

Colleges don’t normally have degrees for auto mechanics, because it is a skill that could be pick up at vocational schools.

Here: http://www.mechanicschools.com/auto/florida.html

Also talk with a counselor this step is very important, they may steer you in the right direction.

Also you may qualify for financial aid. Be sure to get in your FASFA papers.

Again talk with a counselor, they would help you more than people on the Internet.

Do you believe the auto industry has put forth enough effort into making cars more fuel efficient?

Today, as technology advances around the clock, we are finding better products that are automated such as the new Microsoft Sync. Technology is surely advanced as far as optional items that can be purchased for user-friendly devices such as bluetooth technology. With the technology we currently have, do you believe the auto industry is dishing out enough effort to make cars as efficient on gas as they should be?

Yes I think Q.T. make s a good point in saying that it is controlled by a free market IE:supply and demand. That is the beauty of our great land that we have the power to decide what gets produced and what does not.So the next time you hear a news anchor or commentator say that the majority want this or that different remember that if we don’t buy it they won’t make it.
I am all for alternative fuels as long as we are not forced to take it.I believe that if it benefits our country financially and does not cause us to compromise our lifestyle then we should go for it,I don’t however want someone who has their own interests in mind to tell us what we "NEED".

Anyone know a good site for ordering auto body parts?

I received a quote from a shop and I would like to know more or less how much they are getting the parts for.

Thanks!

If you ask they have to tell you…..

The auto body shop did a bad job. Can I refuse to pay deductible?

I recently had my truck’s tailgate replaced by a local auto body shop. The did a bad job and released the truck to me with one part still on order (they ordered a part for the wrong model year). Without going into the many ways the shop made mistakes on the job, I’m wondering if I’m still obligated to pay the deductible? I’d even be willing to not go back for the last part if I don’t have to pay the deductible.

you should make your insurance carrier aware of the problems, it is their job to make sure you are satisfied.
